Anti-HIV treatment

If you are diagnosed with HIV it is in the best interests of your health to start anti-HIV treatment as soon as possible. Antiretroviral therapy (ARV therapy) reduces the amount of HIV in your body and helps boost your immune system.

Antiretroviral drugs (ARV drugs) are used to treat people with HIV. For the treatment to be effective you will have to take medication every day for the rest of your life. It is important to go to an infectious disease doctor regularly so the doctor can monitor your health and provide the best treatment possible.

ARV therapy and drugs are free for Estonian residents regardless of their health insurance status.
